Advocacy. Intervention. Support.
In the painful and disorienting moments that follow a sudden loss or traumatic event, navigating loss and grief and eventually the legal system can feel impossible. Victims, Inc. is there from the very beginning, showing up with immediate trauma intervention and compassionate support. When the traumatic event is a fatal crash or a criminal act, individuals and families must also move forward into the criminal justice process. Our advocates remain by their side—offering clarity, steadiness, and care when it is most needed.
Trauma Intervention
When tragedy strikes, our trained Trauma Intervention Volunteers are dispatched to the scene—within minutes—at the request of first responders. Our presence allows police, fire, and EMS personnel to focus on their critical work while we remain with the affected individuals. Volunteers offer immediate emotional support, practical guidance, and a calming presence during what may be the worst moments of someone’s life. Our involvement doesn't end at the scene; we provide follow-up contact with every victim to ensure continued care, access to services, and referrals to appropriate community resources.
Grief Support
The Grieving Assistance Program (GAP) is designed to meet the emotional needs of those who have lost loved ones. We believe that through immediate, ongoing, and personalized support, the painful effects of sudden loss can be eased and healing may begin.
Networking & Community Collaboration
Victims, Inc. partners with a broad network of professionals and agencies to ensure comprehensive victim support. We collaborate with law enforcement, fire and EMS personnel, hospitals, schools, courts, the media, clergy, and other nonprofit organizations. Through these relationships, we coordinate care, train volunteers, and respond effectively to crisis situations across Strafford and Rockingham Counties.
Victims' Compensation Assistance
The financial impact of a traumatic event can add stress to an already difficult time. Victims, Inc. assists individuals and families in filing for state-funded victim compensation. Our advocates help victims understand eligibility, gather required documentation, and navigate the application process to access support for medical expenses, counseling, funeral costs, lost income, and more.
Legislative Support
We believe that victims should have a voice in the laws that affect their lives. Victims, Inc. informs clients of relevant legislative hearings and provides accompaniment to sessions in Concord, NH. By supporting participation in the legislative process, we empower victims to be heard, influence policy, and help shape a more responsive justice system.
Criminal Justice Advocacy
We accompany victims and their loved ones to hearings, trials, sentencings, and other proceedings, ensuring they are never alone in the courtroom. Our advocates help explain what is happening, provide emotional grounding, and honor the humanity of those enduring grief and trauma. At every step, Victims, Inc. brings both practical guidance and a compassionate presence to help survivors face the legal system with strength and support.
